Spotlights of Day 3
-The Queen Stage: Prague to Brno-
Every tour has its defining moment, and for us it was the queen stage: a 250 km ride from Prague to Brno, packed with the most climbing of the week. To meet the challenge, we set off before dawn, rolling by 6:15, with the thermometer showing just 2°C. Cycling through the silent streets of Prague while the city still slept was a surreal experience. We did miss Jon, who wisely chose to sit this stage out as a recovery day, ready to rejoin tomorrow.

The first hours were cold and fingers as well as toes kept tingling, but by mid-morning the sun broke through, transforming the ride into something far more forgiving. The landscape shifted constantly: rolling hills, farmers harvesting the corn, and fruit trees bending under their load. With barely any wind, we even managed to soak up some sunshine at lunch.
From there, the terrain grew tougher again, leading us through vast pine forests and a sequence of sharp climbs. By late afternoon, the temperature dropped once more, and the final 20 km surprised us with gravel sections, complete darkness, and biting cold.
We arrived in Brno, dreaming only of a hot shower and a quick meal.
The best news:
With the visit to the neurosurgical center in Brno scheduled for 9:00 a.m., we can enjoy an extra hour of sleep.
